Day 38: Children

(Laguna Beach, California)

“Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”
– John 1:12-13

Day 37: Teachings

“Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.”
– Deut. 4:9

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.”
– Deut. 6:6-9

Day 36: Free

(Park City, Utah)

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”

– Galatians 5:1

Day 35: Accountable

(Four Corners, Utah-New Mexico-Arizona-Colorado, USA)

“Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.”
– Galatians 6:2

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
– Ecclesiastes 4:12

Day 34: Glory

(road to Bear Lake, Utah)
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
– Psalm 19:1

Day 33: Owner

(Coronado, California)

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
for he founded it on the seas
And established it on waters.
– Psalm 24:1-2

Day 32: Education

(American Museum of Natural History: New York City)
“Just ask the previous generation.
Pay attention to the experience of our ancestors.
For we were born but yesterday and know nothing.
Our days on earth are as fleeting as a shadow.
But those who came before us will teach you.
They will teach you the wisdom of old.
“Can papyrus reeds grow tall without a marsh?
Can marsh grass flourish without water?
While they are still flowering not ready to be cut,
they begin to wither more quickly than grass.
The same happens to all who forget God.
The hopes of the godless evaporate.
– Job 8:81-3
Degrees and academics are good. But let’s not forget the wisdom of age. We learn more about life from our elders. We learn life lessons from people who had been there. Education doesn’t make us always better than others. Let’s have a teachable heart.

Day 31: Love

(One afternoon at Changi Beach, Singapore)

“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”
– John 3:18

Day 30: Overwhelmed

“When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
Then You knew my path”
Psalm 142:3a

Day 29: Powerful

(The Great Salt Lake, Utah)

“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.”
                                       – Ephesians 1:19-20
